A talk about how company culture affects product direction and success. I discuss what culture is, how different types of product require different cultures, how to trace product symptoms back to culture root causes, and how to build/change culture.
I think culture is the missing link between product development and product success. The audience I had in mind were product leaders (not necessarily people managers) looking to understand and build the best culture for their product.
As Product Managers, we have a responsibility to bring people together to build world-class products. But team building is not just team outings. Watch this talk to learn how to lead, motivate and bring the best out of your team members.
Main Takeaways:
How to hire a Machine Learning team
Choice of the first roadmap
Best team setup
Machine Learning and Agile development
An episode of Nicholas Kanhai’s product podcast, “What can I tell you”.
I discuss my product approach, building Machine Learning teams and products, and breaking into product management.
Toronto's first Product-Led Summit by the European Product Led Alliance
I discussed challenges around roles, team structures, and software development processes when it comes to ML. Your takeaways will be different approaches to tackle these challenges, along with their pros and cons.
In this joint Yelp-Hispanotech event, I talked about Yelp’s use of data and trusted content to grow into Local Services. My colleague Alexander Martinez talked about securing MySQL Data at Yelp with Vitess and Fouad Yousif talked about using data to help businesses measure online activity to drive physical store visits. Enjoy the recording.
AI/ML Product Management shouldn't be all that different from product management. Yes, you need to have a basic understanding of the technology, the development process, and the level of uncertainty, but the basics of product management are still the same.
My definition of a successful ML product manager is the same as a successful product manger; they are able to translate product strategy to day to day work.
